Mission Statement
The Clerk’s Office is dedicated in performing all duties with integrity and professionalism at all times to provide excellent customer service. We will continuously pursue methods to maximize efficiencies while processing filings, maintaining records, accessing information and providing assistance to all.
Functions and Duties of the Clerk's Office
Generally, the clerk has a wide range of administrative duties that vary from state to state and county to county. The list may include, but is not limited to:
- Filing documents;
- Managing the court docket;
- Maintaining records;
- Responding to requests for information;
- Receiving payments of fines, costs and restitution;
- Supervising the processing of fines and forfeitures;
- Disbursing funds;
- Processing required reports;
- Assisting the public in person and by phone;
- Processing motions and complaints;
- Serving parties for hearing; and
- Scheduling hearings with legal counsel.

Clerk's Office Units
This unit handles the call center, assisting walk-in customers at the filing counter and Resource Center, and processing email filings.
This unit handles case initiation, motions and pleading entry and issuing service for private custody and support cases. This unit also handles the processing of sealings and expungements as well as docketing any return service and returned mail.
This unit handles the journalization (if applicable) and service of all journal entries issued by the jurists to the appropriate parties. This unit also handles case initiation, motion and pleading entry, and service for all traffic cases.
This unit handles the case initiation, motions and pleading entry and issuing service for Abuse/Neglect/Dependency, Delinquency, Interstate Compact, Diversion, and Juvenile Civil Protection Order cases. This unit also handles the processing and recall of warrants issued on Delinquency and Support cases and preparing the record and transcript for any appeals filed appealing a decision issued by our court.
This unit handles assisting the Private Custody and Support Magistrates with the flow of cases. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling hearings, issuing hearing notices, preparing files, checking in clients for hearings, drafting journal entries, and answering courtroom phones.

Requests for information may be received via email jcrecordsrequest@cuyahogacounty.us, by mail, or in person at The Clerk’s Office on the second floor. You will be contacted when the request is completed for pick up and payment arrangements.

All surety bonds can be posted at the Clerk’s Office, 9300 Quincy Avenue, 2nd Floor, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After 4:30 p.m. weekend, and holidays, you may post surety bonds in the Juvenile Detention Center, phone number is (216) 443-3300.
